Visit the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA slightly south of Riverside, CA on any weekend. For only $10 extra, your child can actually ride in the cab of a diesel locomotive...and if you think that's a thrill, adults can "be an engineer for an hour" on the Main Line on Mondays and Wednesdays (details on their website)!! The Portola Railroad Museum also allows visistors to operate a locomotive.

Day Out With Thomas the Tank Engine at Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, California. This fund-raising event for the largest operating railway museum west of the Mississippi will draw 75,000 visitors from as far away as Aisia and Europe. Thomas the Tank Engine will be there November 11,12,13 and November 19 & 20.
